Update: Under pressure, Maria Miller has now given her £17,000 payoff to charity – a win for the almost 800 people who signed our petition in just four hours!
Maria Miller has resigned over her expenses – but she is eligible for a £17,000 payoff on leaving the cabinet! Taking that money would be an incredible slap in the face for everyone in Britain and would stoke people’s anger about politicians further.
If Maria Miller won’t give up the money then David Cameron should take it away from her. She should be resigning as an MP and facing criminal investigation – not getting a golden parachute.

The whole episode has been handled UNBELIEVABLY BADLY by the PM !
Letting her walk away with £17,000 obviously adds insult to injury …. vote Conservative ? NOT ON YOUR NELLIE !!!
She should not only give the pay off to charity, but repay all the mones she’s scammed to charity. If we’re honest though This requires a proper criminal investigation, something just isn’t right about this expenses claim.
