Join the Right to Stay campaign

A new campaign from Another Europe is Possible launches today:

The Covid-19 pandemic is dominating government policy, public health and public consciousness – and rightly so. It’s the biggest global crisis we’ve seen in many decades, and all of our lives will be affected. But for many migrants, it means even more uncertainty and danger.

Join our new campaign to defend EU nationals

After June 2021, EU citizens without Settled Status will become illegal in the UK. Because of the Covid-19 crisis, people who require face-to-face support with their applications won’t be able to access it. For a long time, we’ve been saying that the whole system is a mess. Now, even more of the most vulnerable migrants are in danger of becoming undocumented overnight.

That’s why today, together with the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants, we are launching a new campaign for the Right to Stay. (Check out coverage of the campaign in the Guardian here.)

Many of the very same migrants who are now playing a vital role in keeping the country running could soon lose their basic rights. Children in care, victims of domestic violence, elderly people with insufficient language or digital skills who struggle with their applications are particularly at risk.

Donate here to help us fund the campaign

There is a very simple solution to this situation. We urge the UK government to give all EU citizens currently residing in the UK a Right to Stay, guaranteed in primary legislation. This could be done quickly and easily, simply by passing a bill through parliament.

We can win this – but we need your help. Here are three things you can do today to support the campaign:

1. Spread the word – share the campaign on social media and forward this email to your friends.
2. Download a poster to print out here and put it in your window.
3. Donate here to help us raise funds for a big digital campaign and more resources that you can use from home.

Thank you,

Alena, Another Europe

PS. We will be discussing the campaign and how we can win during our virtual conference Resist2020 this Saturday afternoon. Find out more and register here to take part.

Just Stop Oil – Slow Marches

Slow marches are still legal (so LOW RISK of arrest), and are extremely effective. The plan is to keep up the pressure on this ecocidal government to stop all new fossil fuel licences.
