Mel Kelly from Irvine has penned a poem about Left Unity
My grandfather fought in world war 2
to give a future to you and me
A future he was willing to die for –
to keep the people of this country free
But now he’s spinning in his grave, to
see what has become
Where the enemy is within – using
economics instead of a gun
They speak against our teachers, our fire fighters and our NHS
As if they are the enemy and that the politicians they know best
But is was not the nurses or the teachers, fire fighters or the police
Or the unemployed or disabled who displayed their greed
It is the bankers, politicians and the stock market who brought this country to its
knees
And it’s time to pander to the nation – instead of the 1%’s greed
Our fire fighters they are heroes, our
teachers go that extra mile
Our lollipop man keeps our children
safe, with a friendly smile
Our NHS is streets ahead of Obama Care,
even after the coalition have brought it to its knees
With their dishonesty and kickbacks and
all their party sleaze
Our councils and democracy being swept
aside for their insatiable greed
The one thing that we all know is a new
party is what this nation needs
One that will serve the whole nation –
every woman, child and man
And unite this country once again, just
as our grandfather’s did because they understand
There will always be the greedy, the
selfish and the insane
Who seek to be a politician, just for
their own gain
Just look at the big 4 parties – we can no longer believe a word they say
And it time, just like my grandfather’s day – when we unite behind a new way
We must unite as a nation once again,
just as our grandparents did after World War 2
And be a nation that can stand tall –
and vote for a new party that is true
While the other parties seek to divide
– Unity is what we need
We need a new party that will serve the
nation – instead of career politicians greed
My grandfather fought in world war II
to give me a future that was Nazi Free
A future he was willing to die for –
to keep the people of this country free
The other parties have had their
chance- and they have abused our trust in the worst possible way
That is why I am proud to ask for your
vote today
Vote for a new beginning, vote for prosperity instead of austerity, Vote for UNITY

Thanks Mike, from one poet to another.
I want no extremists
I don’t want long words
I just want normality
A safe patriotic space
You can have your soviets
I just want Royal Mail
You can read Capital
I’ll have a fair day’s wage
Alas! We must be cautious
About cosmopolitan plots
Those rootless foreign bankers
With their usury and yachts
Their decadence and greed
Is not what we need
The enemy is within
We’ll root him out and win
We won two world wars
And we’ll win the next one too
Bring on the national rebirth
For me, and yes, for you
Every generation
United in One Nation
Our opportunity:
Vote Left Unity
Prevailing winds for wine snobs,
a pickled head in a tambourine landscape.
This is the kings medicine.
The kings head in a pickled landscape,
medicinal tambourines imprisoned in bandages.
Beat out a banquet for the vinegar queen.
On a canvas drenched in white forgiveness,
the built-up areas will be immune to flushing.
Dry earth turns under the heels of wounded lambs.
1524 is fortified lucidity;
a commonplace attraction outside the radius of fossils.
The 27th letter of the alphabet meets the secret number.
Topic of discussion: the unidirectional beauty of artesian wells
A caravan of strangulation
practices the art of doing murder,
with a wide range of diagnostic tests,
ketamine and laughing gas.
Left Unity, Left Unity
The one for you and me
Left Unity, Left Unity
The one for you and me
Labour let us down
Hence I wear a frown
I’m gonna tell my neighbour
There’s a space to the left
Of Labour
