Felicity Dowling of Left Unity said:
“Left Unity calls for fully funded child protection services, properly paid and resourced social workers, and the restoration and expansion of SureStart centres.
“The situation today is far worse than when Baby Peter died because of the cuts in services and there are more cuts to come. In Birmingham social services are in crisis.
“We offer solidarity to the victimised young doctor and social workers and condemn the role of the Murdoch press and Ed Balls.
“The chief responsibility of society is to its children.”
