An emergency protest has been called against the European Central Bank’s plan to cut off funding to Greece.
The protest will take place at 6pm in Trafalgar Square on Monday (29 June). Marina Prentoulis from Syriza, who will be speaking at the rally, said:
“The Greek government is not going to accept any more blackmail. The ECB’s decision is not going to influence our decision to have a referendum. This is a matter of democracy, not only for Greece but for all the peoples of Europe.
“No to austerity, yes to democracy.”
The protest is organised by Greece Solidarity Campaign and supported by Left Unity.
Left Unity is active in movements and campaigns across the left, working to create an alternative to the main political parties.
