Across the country – but especially in Lancashire – there is dismay and real anger about the government decision to allow fracking in that county. Last time the exploratory fracking caused an earthquake in Blackpool. This time it will cause a political earthquake.
Left Unity principal speaker Felicity Dowling said:
‘In response to the decision to permit fracking – against local opinion, against scientific opinion, against the dire and urgent needs of our climate – Left Unity believes it’s time to resist. The combined forces that oppose fracking must teach the Conservatives to respect the “Desolate North” and listen to democratic opinion.’
Left Unity is active in movements and campaigns across the left, working to create an alternative to the main political parties.
