Left Unity 2017 Spring Conference
Timetable for discussion and submissions
Our 2016 national conference agreed to hold a spring members’ conference to develop party policy in the context of rapid political change and the need for a radical left response to the far-right surge. Conference also agreed that the party’s constitution should be amended in the light of our practical experience since foundation in 2013, and what will best facilitate the party’s work and democratic practice.
All members, branches and policy commissions are invited to participate in the conference and in the pre-conference discussion process.
Internal elections will run during the pre-conference discussion period, and the newly elected NC, announced at the end of March, will be in place for the conference.
The National Council has agreed the following timetable:
As of now:
- Begin branch and commission policy discussions
- Begin Constitutional redraft
March 31st: Submission deadline for branch and policy commission motions and constitutional drafts
April 1st: New NC meets; new Standing Orders Committee convenes
April 10th: Standing Orders Committee circulates motions etc to branches for amendment and compositing
May 5th: Amendment submission deadline
May 12th: Standing Orders Committee publishes conference order paper
May 20/21: Spring Conference in London
- Saturday: Policy conference
- Sunday: Constitutional Conference
