Responding to Circle Health pulling out of running Hinchingbrooke hospital, Salman Shaheen of Left Unity said:
“Circle Health is the first private provider ever to run an NHS hospital, and now it has cut and run. This should be a turning point in NHS privatisation.
“The politicians are arguing over who is to blame. The truth is that Labour’s Andy Burnham as health secretary started the process, then the coalition handed the hospital over. The three main parties have all had a hand in this fiasco.
“Circle Health has often been raised as a positive example by those who defend NHS privatisation. Now it has left a hospital in the lurch because it can’t make a profit.
“The answer to the chaos in the NHS is to stop underfunding hospitals and get the market out of health.”
