Belarusian Left Party statement on Ukraine war

On February 24, 2022, the Russian Federation launched a military special operation aimed at the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. The world community qualifies Russia’s military actions against Ukraine as a war, as an act of aggression against a sovereign country. A few days of fighting have shown that nothing but the death of the military on both sides, nothing but the death of the peaceful, civilian population of Ukraine, nothing but destruction, the war does not bring. And by definition war can’t carry anything positive.

The Belarusian Party of the Left “Fair World”:

  • Believes that military operation should be stopped immediately;
  • Welcomes the fact that the parties of the conflict have sat down at the negotiating table, and only on this path sees a positive development of events and the resolution of contradictions between Russia and Ukraine;
  • Categorically opposes the fact that the Republic of Belarus and its people are involved in a military conflict;
  • Calls on the authorities of Russia and Belarus to stop the persecution of people advocating peace and immediately release all citizens detained for participating in anti-war actions.March 1, 2022
