Left Unity Trade Union Event – 24 October

For Left Unity members and sympathisers to exchange experiences and discuss promoting our work in communities and trade unions.

Sessions will include:

• Organising with and within Trade Unions
• Unions and the Labour Party
• Working through Trades Councils, Unite Community
• Low pay and vulnerable workers
• Unions fighting to defend services and oppose privatisation, including schools and the NHS
• Fighting the anti-union laws and the Tory Trade Union Bill.

This government is stealing from the poor to give to the rich; they won’t stop attacking workers until we have no rights or power at all. We need a massive trade union fightback. Please support this Event – it will be in the wake of the 2nd reading of the Trade Union Bill, the Labour leadership election and the TUC Congress. We need to be part of the fight and develop our roots in community and trade union struggles.

Discussion leaders will include: Eve Turner (Secretary Ealing Trades Council), Stephen Hall (President Greater Manchester TUCs), Bianca Todd (Chair, Northampton Unite Community), Jon Duveen (Secretary Cambridgeshire NUT), Olly New (RMT and LU Trade Union Officer).
