The Tories have wasted no time after the shock election result in launching a new wave of attacks – yet there is no opposition from the leaders of the Labour Party.
Left Unity’s priority is to get active in stopping the next round of austerity. The national anti-austerity demonstration on the 20 June is already reaching out beyond the active left, to thousands more who are shocked at the Tories’ win and want to do something. We’ll be right there with them – let’s do everything we can to make this demonstration as big as possible.
Assemble 12noon, Saturday 20 June, Bank of England (Queen Victoria St), London.
Left Unity will be assembling in zone C, ‘local and international campaigns’, which includes European left parties, Greece Solidarity, the feminist bloc and more. Zone C will be forming up on Bucklersbury, which is a side street coming off Queen Victoria Street. Here’s a map:
Do come and find us on the day – even if you’re planning to march in another bloc, we’ll still have plenty of placards and leaflets you can take with you! There should be Left Unity helpers in zone C from 10.30am until the demo moves off.
If you can help Left Unity on the day, or you’d like more information, please email volunteers@leftunity.org
The nearest tube is Bank, but Bank may close if it gets overcrowded. In this case it is a short walk from London Bridge or other stations. There is more information about transport and other arrangements here.
Left Unity is active in movements and campaigns across the left, working to create an alternative to the main political parties.
