Books for prisoners drive launched

In response to the High Court overturning the prison book ban, left wing political party Left Unity has launched a drive to send books to prisoners.

Salman Shaheen of Left Unity said:

“This is excellent news. Now we’re going to make sure that prisoners have plenty to read.

“Left Unity members are going to collect books and we’ll send as many as we can to prisoners, working with existing campaigns and charities.

“We hope thousands will join us in bombarding the prisons with books and showing reading is a right for all.”
