In response to the shredding of pre-2010 MPs’ expenses documents, Salman Shaheen of Left Unity said:
“This could be a massive cock-up but it feels more like a cover-up.
“The expenses scandal is still felt sharply at Westminster. Just this year Maria Miller had to resign over expenses from the period the shredded documents cover.
“It seems like every time documents are inconvenient for the elite they are quietly disposed of.
“Parliament is still protecting its own. We need to drive this corruption out of politics.”
