Guidance on voting

The election will be carried out using Single Transferable Vote, a version of proportional representation. The ballot follows the Electoral Reform Society guidance on how to conduct an STV election.

Voters will be required to rank the candidates in order of preference for each position. You can cast as many or as few votes for each position as you like, up to the number of candidates standing.

For each position an option is added to Re-Open Nominations – this should be treated in the same way as an ordinary candidate for voting purposes. If this option gains enough votes to be elected, any remaining positions will be re-opened for nominations.

You may cast your vote in a number of ways: online, by email or by post. If you have requested a postal ballot you will be receiving your ballot papers shortly.

You may vote online by clicking the relevant link in the above list and completing and submitting the form, using the membership number and ballot code that are contained in this email.

Alternatively, you may vote by email by sending an email containing your vote to elections@leftunity.org, ensuring that you include the membership number and ballot code that have been emailed to you. Please click here for a template that should be followed for email votes.
