Another Labour Party resignation

Richard Morris writes ‘I officially joined Left Unity last night and resigned from the Labour Party. Here’s my letter of resignation explaining why’

Dear Roger,

I am writing to inform you that I have resigned as a member of the Labour Party. I am sad that I no-longer feel that the party supports the needs of people from the working classes and when re-elected will continue with the Tories and Lib Dems regime of cuts and not have the guts to tackle some of the big issues like housing, the gap between the rich and the poor and looking after our future generations.

I have been involved as an ordinary member, an officer and as a local candidate with the Labour Party for some years and I have made some good personal friends through the movement. I joined though, because I want to make a difference, sometimes it feels like ordinary members are discouraged from speaking up or standing for office and I just don’t see what Labour are doing to move society forward to a fairer outcome for all. I see problems in all areas of public life and I too have been affected by all the main parties unwillingness or unimaginativeness to allow people to live a happy existence.

I have joined a new political party, Left Unity which is fast attracting new members from all walks of life, many who have never been involved in politics before…. People who want a better life for themselves and our communities and are prepared to do something positive and proactive about it.

I of course wish you and all my friends in the Labour Party well on a personal level.
