Dan is 32 and disabled.  His experience with ATOS, the Council Tax, and the Bedroom Tax is told in this short video made by Liam Wesson and Paul Barnett, Left Unity supporters in Staffordshire:

Where is the united fighting fund to defend our sisters and brothers against benefit mugging, to pay court costs (and establish legal precedent) funded by a partnership of unions and campaign groups, 38 degrees et al?

Where is the union recruitment campaign to welcome a huge cohort of people who are poor and angry, to our cause; and then using this to recruit other non-union workers and unpaid workers, who are probably thinking “it’s me next”, or are just disgusted by it all? Are Unite Community doing this? Is anyone else?

Hey Dan, we are with you brother! Are you in Left Unity now?

Please note that page not found is coming up, if a certain number of words are posted, strange but it seems to be happening

0ne of the reasons why we made this Video was to make clear to people exactly what the Government are doing to Disabled people, ATOS are a disgrace, all effected should be able to re-appeal and be assessed by PROPER DOCTORS on the NHS who actually care about people’s welfare.

I am angered and disgraced by how the Government think that just because someone has qualifications that they can work. It’s shocking.

If Dan or anyone else is having problems with the benefit system, feel free to look for 4UP on facebook. They tackle endemic stupidity from the DWP etc using the law. And so far, not one lost appeal. The group is highly social and active, and folk work together to sort problems. 4UP exists specifically to tackle benefit issues, regardless of the individuals situation, so whether abled, disabled, employed or unemployed, if you have problems with the DWP, you now know where to come. :-)

I’m glad to find out about 4UP Eric. And I absolutely welcome this video: most folk have no idea what we’re going through. And the latest greatest? The DWP are suggesting we should go into residential institutions for a year, do 3 months workfare and ‘get training’. In other words, back to the dreaded days women being forced to learn how to sew and men being forced to learn – how to be cobblers? the abuse in these institutions was endemic. So I echo ben’s question? But I suggest in the first place you visit DPAC’s website to find out how to support our fight. thanks.
