Greek journalists striking in solidarity with ERT have issued their own solidarity newspaper with the title “Unbound Opinion”. Myrto Bolota and Christos Giovanopoulos from the Greek Solidarity for All organisation have sent a short film that documents the publishing process of this newspaper
The paper was published last weekend Saturday/Sunday 15-16 June 2013 as a reaction to the big media groups in Greece, that issued their weekend papers despite the journalists’ union (ESHEA) strike.
“Unbound Opinion” was also the title of the paper that the striking journalists had published during another a month-long strike, 38 years ago, in 1975.
100,000 copies of the current strikers’ paper was printed, of which 40,000 were distributed outside Athens all over Greece. The paper is delivered for free asking only for donations for the ERT strikers’ fund.
The last scene of the film captures the moment that the strikers’ paper reaches the ERT headquarters and is distributed to the gathered in solidarity people.
You can still sign the petition against the closure of ERT here http://www.avaaz.org/en/petition/EBU_Petition_Get_ERT_back_on_air/?copy
