Syriza and Greece: putting hope into practice

It’s now just over a week until Greece goes to the polls – and the radical left party Syriza stands on the verge of being elected. This is a huge moment for the anti-austerity movement across Europe and Left Unity stands in solidarity with Syriza.

In the days after the election there will be a major Greece Solidarity Campaign public meeting, ‘Syriza and Greece: putting hope into practice’, onWednesday 28 January at TUC Congress House, 23-28 Great Russell Street, London WC1B 3LS. 

Speakers will include Marina Prentoulis and Stathis Kouvelakis from Syriza, who will be travelling directly from the elections and will be able to give a first hand account of the campaign and of the results, TUC president Leslie Manasseh, Tariq Ali, Kate Hudson and Paul Mackney. Click here to get tickets for the meeting.

Day of action

This weekend there will be solidarity actions across Europe showing support for Syriza’s ‘Call for Change’, demanding an end to the austerity imposed by the ‘Troika’ of the EU, IMF and European Central Bank.

In central London there will be a rally at 12noon this Saturday, meeting by the statue of Winston Churchill at the Westminster end of Whitehall. For more details see the Greece Solidarity Campaign website.
