Sorry is not enough – Lord Freud must go

Left wing political party Left Unity is calling for Lord Freud to resign regardless of his apology for his comments that disabled people are “not worth” the minimum wage .

Merry Cross of Left Unity said:

“This was a ‘Freudian slip’ that exposes Lord Freud’s real views about disabled people. An apology is not enough to allow him to stay in his position. He must resign.

“This is the man who has spear-headed the persecution of disabled people. He did not mis-speak – he was telling the truth about his disgusting views on disabled people.

“The government is trying to balance the books on the backs of the poorest by cutting the welfare budget. But even in its own terms it has failed, as its persecution has cost more money than it has saved.

“We are human beings, not lesser people who are only worth £2 an hour or less. This is not the first time Lord Freud has made comments like these about disabled people but it must be the last – he should go now.”

  1. M. Jones says:

The point is also that this disgusting creature previously worked for the Brown/Blair Labour Government “reforming welfare” – read giving out millions to workfare companies and setting up the system of “assessments” run by ATOS in order to persecute disabled people on benefits. Previous to that he was notorious for hawking effectively worthless share offerings round the City of London. The point being that both Labour and the ConDems agree that those reliant on benefits should pay for the crisis and both have employed a man even the ruling class regards as a swindler to do some of the dirty work.

Left Unity is active in movements and campaigns across the left, working to create an alternative to the main political parties.
