Response to Ed Miliband on Libya and migration

Responding to Ed Miliband’s speech on migration and “failures of post-conflict planning” in Libya, Left Unity’s Salman Shaheen said:

“The migrant crisis we are seeing now is a direct result of military intervention in Libya, which Ed Miliband supported.

“He is the latest Labour leader to have backed a war with little regard for the tragic long-term consequences. Miliband needs to display some of the humility he did over Iraq and admit that he was wrong.

“Britain needs to accept that it cannot police the world – and when it tries to, it makes things far worse.

“If Britain wants to make the world a better place, it can start by offering a home to those whose country our government helped destroy.”
