National meeting for Public Sector trade unionists – 13 September

Public-sector-strikesLeft Unity is organising a national meeting on 13th September for its members and supporter in public sector trade unions across the country.

Public sector workers are in a crisis – privatisation, restructuring, low pay and significant redundancies have left many of us over worked, stressed and struggling to keep vital services going. And the austerity cuts are planned to keep going for at least another 3 years.

The current dispute over pay has seen a million workers take strike action already – with another strike scheduled for mid October.

But is it unclear what the union leaders’ strategy is after the next strike, and with some unions yet to announce they will join the action, it is very important that Left Unity members discuss what we can say and do to support the dispute and mobilise the trade union movement.

This national meeting will take forward discussion and organisations of our work in the trade unions – to feed into a fuller trade union conference at a later date.
