“I am sending Solidarity greetings to friends, sisters, brothers, comrades and protesters around the world, to all who have the guts to say, on this day of all days, that a better world is possible. “Courage!” to all who speak for a better world than the hatreds and ignorance proclaimed by Trump.

I send my admiration and support to those who are organising trade unionsin harsh conditions, to women across the world who protest and defend the rights of women, to those protecting the environment from Standing Rock to
Preston New Road, to those facing war and disaster, challenging poverty and defending freedom of speech. Above all, courage to those who organise.

To the new generation coming through to oppose these toxic ideas, you have never been more needed!
Speak out today even if it’s to just one person! Speak with reason and with patience. Let’s make the rulers of this world rue this day, as the beginning of the resistance.”
