Left Unity is hiring

Left Unity, a newly founded party of the left, would like to recruit two new members of staff to join our small London office team.

Social Media Coordinator

We are looking for a capable and enthusiastic Social Media Coordinator with a commitment to Left Unity’s principles to take on the responsibilities encompassed in the development and implementation of an improved social media strategy for the party.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, organised, and able to oversee a team of volunteer content contributors as well as highly proficient at content creation themselves. Ideally they will have experience of content creation and coordination in a social media setting.

Excellent organisational and communication skills, an understanding of media and social media strategy, and a familiarity with the political context of the UK and a commitment to Left Unity’s ideals are essential qualities for the successful applicant.

The job will be 7 hours per week, which you will be entitled to carry out on a flexible basis (in terms of which hours you work) providing there is clear advance communication and reporting on work. We would prefer you were based in or near London and so could attend our London office, though if you are able to work from home and travel to occasional meetings in London then that would also be workable.

Branch and Membership Support Coordinator

We are looking for an efficient and well-organised Branch and Membership Support Coordinator with a commitment to Left Unity’s principles to assist in building and supporting the party’s individual membership and branch network.

The successful candidate will be a member of Left Unity, able to organise and structure their own work, as well as working as part of a wider team. They will work with Left Unity’s elected national officers to help implement party strategy and priorities as agreed by the party’s National Conference and elected National Council.

Excellent organisational and communication skills, a good understanding of the labour movement in Britain and a background of involvement in the campaigning priorities of the movement are essential attributes for the successful candidate.

The job will be 21 hours per week, working from our central London office.
