Labour needs principles, not six-figure strategist

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Responding to Labour’s appointment of Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod, Left Unity’s Bianca Todd said:

“Labour doesn’t need to pay a six-figure salary to Obama’s strategist – it needs to stand up for working class people and left wing principles.

“Here’s a strategy Labour could use and we’ll give it to them for free: say you will end austerity and reverse all the cuts, support all campaigns to defend public services and the NHS, give workers a living wage and increase benefits.

“People are turned off from Labour because they act like Tories with different coloured ties. That’s why so many former Labour supporters are joining our new party.”

One response to “Labour needs principles, not six-figure strategist”

  1. Thomas Jones says:

The labour party’s betrayal of working people is almost complete. Axelrod will fit in very well… Since they ‘Modernised’the party (i.e; adopted neo-liberalism) and ditched Clause IV almost twenty years ago, they have embraced the market with open arms, turning their backs on the very people who have placed their trust and faith in them time and time again. The days of great Labour leaders like Atlee, Bevan and the late, great Tony Benn are long gone. People don’t want slick American strategists; we want a decent and fair society. Good luck, Left Unity; I have already joined and I am sure many others will before long.
