I’am a committed Socialist and I’am surprised I didn’t see a candidate in S.Wales because S.Wales valleys are Socialist that is where labour gets most of it’s seats from but people feel let down by labour .

There was an Excellent inaugural meeting of the Mid Glamorgan branch tonight which covers RCT; Merthyr; Caerphilly; and Bridgend. Due to the demand to continue the discussion another meeting will be held in two weeks. Also heard tonight that Left Unity membership in Wales is now 65 up 20 in a month with two new branches in Swansea and Mid Glamorgan joining the existing one in Cardiff. Join us in building the socialist alternative to austerity and the Tories.

Re. National Council. I would like to represent the Northwest.

We’ve had one NW regional meeting recently, so some of us sort of know each other. Are all these nominations to be re-opend by another online process, Terry?
Secondly, is there a provision for job-sharing on these, as the extra travel etc is what is putting me & maybe others off. I want to focus on building this branch and helping other new branches form south and east of Manchester, not on national work, so I would only consider a job-share. Does anyone else feel this way?

Scotland may well vote for independence come September. If so what happens?
There is no provision for Northern ireland. Why? Has LU a position with regards to NI’s place in the UK?
Ben, the November conference decided not to organise in N. Ireland on the basis it is for the people of Northern Ireland to decide the future of North Ireland. There are, and will not be, any Left Unity members in Northern Ireland.
I think the Scotland position will have to be decided following the referendum.
thanks for your reply Johny – I can see the “wait until the day” approach is wisest as far as regards Scotland.
And of course “it is for the people of Northern Ireland to decide the future of North Ireland” summarizes perfectly the Good Friday agreement and generally speaking westminster policy towards NI.
However I do not see the connection to your next statement

Would you be so kind as to explain the reasons? Am just curious.
Unless (thought has just struck me) it is to do with the general practice that parties in Great Britain (the island) do not organise in NI?I posted about this some time ago

Those of us in Scotland have nominated two comrades for the Scottish seats (Chris Cassells and Lauren Bryden), however, we were too late getting these nominations in, but they will or have been put in once nominations re-open.
