Has there been a time like this?

Felicity Dowling writes.

How much worse can the government and the establishment be proven to be?

The police officer in charge at Hillsborough admits he caused the deaths of 96 people. He admits now that it was his fault – but then, when it happened, he slandered our dead, slandered and lied about survivors, not once but repeatedly and continuously over the years.

The same police force were complicit in the abuse of children in Rotherham, and again they lied and blamed the victims.

The police and security services knew Cyril Smith was a child abuser like Savile, yet they threatened police offers with the Official Secrets Act if they admitted it. Many more officers, it is thought, were also gagged.

The Metropolitan Police are investigating other cover-ups of historic sex abuse, abuse by very powerful men of the most vulnerable children in the land. And it looks as if the chain of mutual support to abusers of children has been an immensely strong web: county after county is embroiled in the cover up of systemic abuse.

Three judges are dismissed for viewing porn on their workplace computers.

The National Audit Office warns the government:

Whitehall ministers are carrying out dramatic cuts to public spending without grasping the impact they are having on the ground, the head of Britain’s spending watchdog has said. Sir Amyas Morse, who leads the National Audit Office, accused ministers of irresponsible decision-making; “If you’re going to do radical surgery it would be nice if you knew where the heart was,” he said in an interview with the Financial Times. “You’re slightly more likely not to stick a knife in it by mistake.”

The government’s free school and academies projects are ever more clearly crude methods of transferring state money to the government’s friends. Housing is in chaos.

Grant Shapps, Tory chair, lies in public then tries to sue someone who calls him out. The Tory treasurer corruptly offered access to Cameron for money, denies it, then loses in court.

The service that offers mental health care to our children has been wrecked. Suicides are at a ten year high and linked to benefits cuts by charities such as Mind. A million people have been hit by sanctions, including over 90,000 children in families left without any benefits.

Corrupt, abusive, incompetent and cruel. The Tories must go.
