“The government must now learn the lesson: the elite cannot investigate the elite.
“To lose not one but two chairs of the abuse inquiry shows that the whole establishment is linked in some way to this terrible scandal.
“We need a real inquiry that will leave no stone unturned, chaired by someone clearly independent, who the survivors can trust.
“The inquiry’s terms of reference should also change to make it a much wider investigation, and ensure that the voices of all survivors are heard.”
