Campaigners to welcome NHS march to London

Left Unity alongside other health campaigners will be on the streets to welcome the People’s March for the NHS to London tomorrow (Saturday 6 Sept).

The NHS march has been making its way across the country, recreating the route of the 1936 Jarrow march.

Its final leg is from Red Lion Square (London WC1R 4HQ, estimated start time Saturday 2pm) to Trafalgar Square.

Bianca Todd of Left Unity said:

“These inspiring women have marched 300 miles for our NHS. We have supported them every step of the way and we will be delighted to be there to welcome them to the capital.

“This march is drawing vital attention to the government’s drive to dismantle the health service. Across the country we are seeing A&E departments, ambulance stations, GP surgeries and more all facing closure. Many more parts of the NHS are being sold off to profit-making companies.

“The NHS is a wonderful service that was built by our grandparents and our great grandparents. Now the baton falls to us. We must fight for it.”
